Encanto, Madrigal Fantastic Family – Friday, August 12

In the heart of the Colombian mountains, the Madrigal family lives in the beautiful village of Encanto. Each of its members has a certain magical power that they use to help the villagers on a daily basis. Only young Mirabelle did not receive a special gift. But on the day when the bewitched “Kazita” is threatened with death, Mirabelle takes her fate into her own hands…

Disney’s 60th Animated Classic, Encanto, Fantastic Madrigal Family is the studio’s latest hit, boasting multiple awards including the Golden Globe and 2022 Oscars for Best Animated Feature, and more! It immerses us in the Colombian tradition, between realism and magic.

The feature film, directed by Byron Howard, Jared Bush and Charise Castro Smith, shines with its story and endearing characters, but also and above all with the songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton) written by Germaine Franco. As proof, “Let’s Not Talk About Bruno” became Disney’s biggest musical success, even surpassing “Unchained” directed! Ready to sing all summer?

Scream Saga – From Monday 22 August

If there is one horror saga that everyone remembers, this is it! Starting August 22, CANAL+ will make all screamers scream with joy with a 4-movie marathon. A clever mix of slasher and detective genres, well spiced with dark humor, the franchise launched in 1996 under the direction of Wes Craven and quickly managed to build a fan base.

After 26 years, this symbol of cinema has not aged at all, as evidenced by the resounding success of the 5th opus, which was released in cinemas last January. See you August 22-25 with Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), Gail Weathers (Courteney Cox) and everyone else (not forgetting Ghostface, of course) for a summer full of cold sweats!

Talking to Friends – Thursday, August 25

Fans of “Normal People” are in seventh heaven with happiness. After a great series about this adorable couple, another novel by Sally Rooney (her very first) is getting a new color thanks to a TV adaptation. Conversations with Friends this time explores the relationship between two inseparable ex-girlfriends, Bobby and Frances, and a married couple.

All 12 episodes are approximately thirty minutes long, directed by Lenny Abrahamson (Frank) and Lynn Welham (His Dark Parts), with a vibrant cast. The real opening of the series: Alison Oliver portrays the sensible and observant Frances, and Sasha Lane (“American Cutie”) portrays the features of her ex Bobby. We also find Joe Alvin (The Favourite) and Jemima Kirk (The Girls) on the poster for what promises to be our late summer series.


Respect – Tuesday 9 August

The film chronicles the rise of Aretha Franklin, from her ministry as an acolyte in her father’s church to her international fame. Respect is the wonderful true story of this musical icon’s journey, illuminated by the talent of Jennifer Hudson in the title role.

False Flag – Season 3 – From Monday, August 15th.

Highly acclaimed by critics and the public alike, False Flag returns with a third season full of twists and turns. After a chemical attack at a party for an Israeli high-tech company based in Cyprus, Inspector Eitan Koppel arrives on the scene. To aid him in his investigation, the computer software presents him with three suspects…

Williams method – August 27, Saturday.

Focus on the personality of Richard Williams, coach and father of world players Venus and Serena, at the heart of the Williams Method. With no experience in sports, he developed a 78-page plan to turn his 4-year-old daughters into future champions. The film for which Will Smith won the 2022 Oscar for Best Actor.

The event is Tuesday, August 30th.
