If you, too, have been waiting for Fable IV (which we will call by default) since its announcement two years ago, continue to be patient. The game has clearly not yet entered the final phase of development, and the Playground Games studio continues to recruit artists to expand the team. In an interview at PAX 2022 about the silence surrounding the game, Matt Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios, explained why the game is so reserved.
No announcements until the studio gets a feel for it
He first returned to choosing a studio, which may have surprised him. We know Playground Games from their work on the Forza Horizon series, which requires a very different set of skills compared to those needed to develop an RPG like Fable. But for Booty, the studio fully understood what needed to be done:
“Let’s be honest, giving Fable to a racing team can be a bit of a headache, but they’ve proven they’ve got the idea and I can’t wait to show more. »
But exactly when will we see the game again? Booty explains that he wanted to show the title several times, but the studio was against the idea:
“Every time I see something, I say: “We have to show it” … because there are a lot of cool things. The team made it clear that I can’t show anything until it’s ready. »
We imagine this is all a little fictional (after all, Booty is really the boss, the one who makes the decisions), but we can be sure that the development team still has a say when it comes to not showing the game. too early.
