Far Cry 6 will be free to play this weekend – here’s how

If you’ve been eyeing Ubisoft’s Far Cry 6, then this weekend might be the perfect time to do so. Far Cry 6 is free to play all weekend through August 7 on Playstation, XBox, Stadia and PC. This rare opportunity is available on the Epic Games Store. (will open in a new tab) on PC and you can get an idea of things before you decide if you want to buy the game or not.

In fact, Ubisoft’s Far Cry 6 also went on sale this weekend – and all of its various editions are 60% off. The standard version has dropped to $24 from $60, while the maximum version is down to $48 from the regular price of $120. We have already seen different offers for Far Cry 6, but this is the lowest price we have ever seen for the game.

Luckily, it won’t cost you anything to play it this weekend. Like other parts of the Far Cry series, Far Cry 6 is a first-person shooter that feels very familiar to play. You are taken to the fictional island of Yara where you are tasked with overthrowing a dictator, taking back enemy strongholds, disabling anti-aircraft guns, hunting wild animals for the best equipment, and generally causing a lot of destruction and chaos. You can travel around the tropical island, completing various missions. It’s a fast-paced adventure that’s fun to play and fairly easy to play.

As we noted in our review, Far Cry 6’s gameplay is pretty much enjoyable. This is a game that combines some of the best elements of the series and makes them work in perfect harmony. Objectives and objectives are new, and additions like weapon mods have been added to the game to replace your skill tree, but the core is still pretty much the same. During the game, you even have the option to hunt for hidden treasures that will benefit you when you complete the quest’s main mission.

The dictator in the game is named Anton Castillo and is played by the fearsome Giancarlo Esposito from Breaking Bad. Unfortunately, the dictator doesn’t take too many notes, although he appears in key scenes and reminds us of the oppressive stranglehold he has on Yara.

As with all Far Cry games, Ubisoft has added a secret alternate ending to this one, and you can read our guide on how to unlock Far Cry 6’s fun alternate ending.

My colleague Rory Mellon says that Far Cry 6 is like “video game comfort food” to him, and in his article on why he loves the game, he mentions that “Sometimes you just want to turn your brain off and cause havoc in a picturesque tropical island.” . Besides, who doesn’t love a game where you can unleash legendary animals on your enemies.

There are some tonal inconsistencies in the story, but if you like the classic sandbox action game, you’ll love Far Cry 6 – and while it’s free, it’s definitely worth checking out.
