Finally a release date for Rainbow Six Extraction

After being announced in March 2018 via a special season event Chimera, Rainbow Six Extraction (initially Rainbow Six Quarantine, then Rainbow Six Parasite during the closed beta) will be released on September 16, 2021 for PC, Playstation, and Xbox.

Gather your squad

Form a team of 1 to 3 players made up of agents from the very popular Rainbow Six Siege who joined the REACT unit of Ash and Thermite. You will have at your disposal 18 agents with their weapons and their unique abilities, revised to help you progress in exclusion zones to gather information on the extraterrestrial threat. Nine Agents have been revealed to us so far: Finka, Pulse Doc, Sledge, Alibi, Vigil, Hibana, Ela and Lion. Each will have their own progress sheet.

Put your feet in hostile ground

Once in the exclusion zone, you will have to accomplish a variety of objectives, including mapping Archean nests or collecting their DNA, and extracting yourself from the area unharmed. You will pass through several sub-areas, each separated by an airlock where you will have the opportunity to heal and refuel. Once in the airlock, you will also have the choice to complete the mission and collect the rewards for your hard work or you can continue your progress and leave with the jackpot. But moving from one sub-zone to another is not without risks. The difficulty level will escalate as the mission progresses, and if one of your operatives falls in action, you will have to make the difficult decision to leave them behind and continue or turn back and launch a rescue mission.

An unsuccessful fallen agent will become unavailable until you successfully complete their rescue mission. You may have multiple agents unavailable at the same time, or even all of your agents, if you fail to extract them successfully.

Know your enemy

The Archeans are an alien life form that arrived on Earth when it collided with a meteorite in New Mexico. It quickly invaded American territory, covering thousands of kilometers of a slimy substance, the sprawl, which serves as an ecosystem for the Archeans. This gooey mass will slow down your progress in the sub-areas so get rid of it when you can.

During the game, you will face 10 archetypes of enemies. Among these, you will find:

  • The Grunts, Basic Archeans without special abilities, but who can become problematic in large numbers
  • The Spikers, who have a ranged attack that pierces armor
  • The Breachers, Explosive Archeans
  • The Rooters, capable of immobilizing a target in front of them in place
  • The Smashers, Archeans of great stature and superhuman strength whose weak point is on the back
  • The Lurkers, who possess the ability to make another Archean nearly invisible with a projectile
  • The Tormentors, Elite Archeans who can move quickly through the sprawl

Stealth will be your greatest asset since your enemies are in symbiosis with their ecosystem. Alert an Archean and nearby nests will awaken. You will then find yourself in a perilous situation surrounded by a horde and you risk losing an agent or worse, the game.

A Breacher and one Tormentor attack Ela and Nomad.
