Forget about gift vouchers! At Christmas, give away cryptos, NFTs and tungsten cubes

When you don’t have gift ideas, the easy solution is to slip a small check or some bills into an envelope at the foot of the tree. Ultra-modern grandparents can even go for a PayLib transfer.

But if you really want to be at the forefront of modernity, THE gift to offer you this year is the NFT, a non-fungible token that some have seen its value multiplied in a few months. The upside is that the price of a basic NFT is relatively low, says the Wall Street Journal, which publishes a small guide to special tips for crypto giveaways.

Des places de marché telles que Rarible, OpenSea ou Nifty Gateway offrent of multiple idées pour des gifts NFT, eat a gif of multicolored chat pour 0.5 ether (183 euros around), or a punk McDonald’s pour 0.002 ether (7.3 euros about).

And there is something for everyone. Is your son a fan of PSG? Give him a collectible Lucky Buddys NFT, a figure created by artist Ludo. Price: between 0.5 and 5 ethers. Rather modern classic art? Crypto artist Dit Pdoy has created a modern version of the Sistine Chapel at the gates of Paris transposed to 404 numbered NFTs.

Another possibility is to offer cryptocurrencies in cash directly, as long as the person to whom you want to make the gift already has a cryptocurrency account.

In this case, prefer a small piece of money with a safe value, such as bitcoin or ether, to a large wallet of a fake currency, such as dogecoin, pizzacoin or hamstercoin, which risks disappearing or seeing its value reduced to nothing in a few months, the WSJ reports (dogecoin, for example, has seen its price divided by five since May).

The latter cannot be redeemed on all platforms either. “Giving a dogecoin is not more valuable than sending a funny greeting card,” smiles Lex Sokolin, who works for a fintech specializing in blockchain.

Are you looking for a real object to put at the foot of the tree? In October, Midwest Tungsten Service listed a huge cube made of tungsten, a material even heavier than lead, in NFT form on OpenSea.

Since then, the small tungsten cube has become the all-time favorite among crypto fans, and now you can find it on Amazon for $ 149 for the 2.5-centimeter engraved cube or on eBay for $ 203.

Here again, quite a risky gift because the fashion is likely to pass quite quickly. But at least you will have something to decorate the shelf and prop up your books.
