The Automobile Protection Association (APA) has evaluated four compact SUVs: the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, the Mitsubishi Outlander, the Nissan Rogue and the new Ford Bronco Sport.
Four compact SUVs that were released as model year 2021 and 2022 caught our attention for this benchmark. Three competitors constitute a new generation of existing models, namely the Hyundai Tucson -in hybrid version, a novelty for this model-, the Mitsubishi Outlander and the Nissan Rogue, the latter two now share the same Nissan mechanics. The Ford Bronco Sport is a new offering from Ford aimed at fans of adventurous-looking vehicles, without the extreme character of the new, larger Bronco model, targeting more Jeep Wrangler customers.
The compact utility segment is very important to manufacturers, accounting for more than 20% of all vehicles sold in Quebec. The offer is wide and includes more and more hybrid or plug-in hybrid models. Some time ago we were able to test a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid that impressed with its frugality at the pump.
