From new actor to leader: who is Roborock?

At home, you may be lucky enough to be helped by a Roborock robot vacuum cleaner every day. In just a few years, this Chinese brand has invaded our homes, determined to teach us how to (not) clean. With such beautiful promises, it can be said that success is quickly at a rendezvous.

Thus, in less than eight years, this new player has established itself as a must-have with innovative, high-quality products. This is how Roborock carved a niche for itself in the robot vacuum market.

History of Roborock

For Roborock, it all starts with Richard Chang. This visionary can be called a “serial entrepreneur.” With Roborock, a businessman fails on the first try. With over 12 years of product development experience, Richard Chang knows his score well. In particular, he has worked for such brilliant companies as Microsoft, Tencent and even Maxthon. After which he decides to go his own way, founding PhotoWonder, a photo editing app. The success is there, so Baidu, the Chinese search engine, ends up buying it.

In his career as a product manager, Richard Chang is primarily concerned with the interests and needs of consumers. Moreover, he thinks about the problems of users and wants to put everything in its place to solve them. So when he discovers that the few robot vacuums on the market at the time are far from efficient and, above all, very expensive, he wants to change that. We are far from the promise of a stand-alone household appliance … As a result, in 2014, Richard Chang founded Roborock. Very quickly, Xiaomi became interested in Roborock and invested, which allowed the brand to become a subsidiary of the Xiaomi Ecological Network. The story has just begun…

What is the Roborock philosophy?

Roborock’s vision is to make life easier for consumers so that they can spend time every day doing what they really enjoy. Yes, few people enjoy regular cleaning.

Since its inception, Roborock has strived to be a brand that is trusted in the hearts of its consumers. Richard Chang’s company relies on listening to what users want to offer the products they really need. To do this, Roborock gets straight to the point: no need to do tons with an avalanche of useless specs. Consumer issues are always at the center of Roborock’s attention.

But Roborock does not only listen to its customers: the brand considers it a matter of honor to also listen to its competitors’ customers in order to find other needs that the Chinese brand can satisfy in the future.

In this way, Roborock products offer effective cleaning without forgetting space or getting stuck thanks to the necessary innovative technologies.

Roborock in a few figures

Roborock has come a long way since 2014. In just eight years, the brand has topped sales of robotic vacuum cleaners and other household cleaning products. Launching its very first robot vacuum cleaner in 2016, after two years of operation, Mi Home Robotic becomes the best-selling robot vacuum cleaner in China.

Roborock is relying on crowdfunding for its second robot vacuum in 2017. In four hours, the brand returns 10 million yuan (more than one million euros) to launch Roborock Robotic.

Over the past five years, Roborock has grown by 84%. Just an impressive number. In 2021, the brand sold 2.82 million robot vacuum cleaners and filed 270 new domestic and foreign patents. Roborock is determined to keep this great momentum alive for years to come.

Innovation seen by Roborock

To achieve this coveted position as the undisputed leader, Roborock has worked tirelessly on numerous innovations to stand out from the crowd, but also to truly meet the needs of consumers.

Among its highlights, we note in particular the patented ReactiveAI technology on the Roborock S6 MaxV, which makes it easier (and faster) to avoid obstacles and adapt your course, or the VibraRise® technology, which allows some robot vacuums, such as the Roborock S7, to also be able to effectively wash the floor thanks to the system of sound vibrations.

Taking it one step further, Roborock will introduce an intelligent automatic trash dump station in 2021 to make cleaning even more enjoyable and comfortable.

Finally, this year the brand has lifted the veil on the best standalone robot vacuum to date: the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra. The advantage of this nugget is that it is completely autonomous. In addition to dust collection and mopping, the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra Waste Station does it all and doesn’t just vacuum dust. Indeed, it dusts, fills the water tank and cleans the mop. It’s no surprise that this promising novelty won the Best Invention of 2022 award from American Time magazine.

Today, Roborock offers a very wide range of products so that everyone can find their account. From a robot vacuum that fits the essentials to the most successful premium product, you’re sure to find what you’re looking for. After entering the robot vacuum market with brio, will Roborock take the unknown market by storm with new products for 2023, or will the brand have some nice surprises in store for French consumers with several new robot vacuums?
