Gaggiuino Ultimate Espresso Machine on Arduino

If you want to build the perfect espresso machine, you might be interested in the new Gaggiuino Arduino project. An open source mod for espresso machines developed by Zer0bit and a small community of developers and manufacturers. Check out the video below for a sneak peek at the current basic features of the mod that turned a $500 Gaggia espresso machine into something smarter.

“Gaggia espresso machines are under $500 and they are pretty good for that price point, but they can’t match the $6,000 La Marzocco Linea Mini. However, the building blocks are there; Gaggia espresso machines have quality parts, they just lack precise electronic controls. Gaggiuino addresses this shortcoming with several available components. For about $100 worth of hardware, you can dramatically upgrade your Gaggia Classic or Gaggia Classic Pro to create an exceptional machine.”

“The hardware required to upgrade the Gaggiuino includes an Arduino Nano board, a Nextion 2.4” LCD touch screen, a thermocouple, a Solid State Relay (SSR), a pressure sensor, and a dimmer module. Several 3D printed housings and mounts help protect these components. After performing this update, you will get a lot of great features.”

“These include: steam management, sensor graphs, manual flow control, descaling cycle, automatic feed timer, user profiles and a nice user interface to access and configure everything. Thanks to the new hardware, all of these functions work with precision, so you can customize your perfect drink and get the same results every morning.”
