Ahead of CES 2023, Samsung is wrapping up a new laptop powered by Qualcomm’s ARM chip. This is the Galaxy Book2 Go.
Samsung is expanding its range of notebooks in France. The South Korean firm known for its Galaxy smartphones is not waiting for CES 2023 to do so and is announcing the Galaxy Book2 Go. This new machine looks like a classic laptop, betting on a mobility-focused design. The surprise is inside, as this Galaxy Book2 Go is powered by ARM thanks to a Snapdragon Compute Platform processor.
Classic appearance, Snapdragon touch
Before dwelling in more detail on the heart that drives this laptop, it’s worth taking a tour of the owner. Billed as compact, the Galaxy Book2 Go is 15.5mm thick and weighs 1.44kg. The case has thin edges and is equipped with a 14-inch IPS LCD screen with Full HD resolution. The laptop adds a 180-degree adjustable hinge and should be solid; it has passed Mil-STD-810H testing. This standard ensures that it performs even in extreme temperatures, humidity and withstands shock, vibration and drops.
However, the presence of Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3 is striking. Introduced in late 2021, this SoC for laptops provides Wi-Fi 6E connectivity and good battery life for the Galaxy Book2 Go. Samsung mentions the ability to use it all day without an outlet and up to 21 hours of battery life with video playback. On the other hand, the brand does not stop at performance and is content with announcing “optimized performance” for work, video calls and entertainment. It remains to be seen if this processor will match Samsung’s latest portable machine.
Either way, the manufacturer will have another asset: the Galaxy ecosystem. Samsung promises some continuity between Galaxy devices with features like Link to Windows, Second Screen or Multi Control. The manufacturer also mentions Samsung Notes, Quick Share or automatic pairing of Galaxy Buds tools.
Available until the end of the month at an “affordable” price
The Galaxy Book2 Go will go on sale in France starting January 20, 2023. The brand does not name the price of its laptop, but does specify that it will represent an “affordable entry point” for the Galaxy Book2 line. Please note that it will be available exclusively on the Samsung website.
