City firefighters and Énergir arrived at Rue de Frechette, at the corner of West Boulevard Leclerc, in Granby, to intervene at the scene of the gas leak on Wednesday afternoon.

VAt about 15:00, emergency services were warned of a gas leak in a residential building. The firefighters then quickly secured the scene.

The situation remained under control throughout the operation, according to Robert Dubet, head of Granby’s fire department. Energir dug a hole to “clamp the faulty pipe and drown out the source of the exhaust,” he explains.

Earthworks are at the heart of the incident. Nobody was hurt, but four houses were evacuated.

At about 18:15 Energir managed to stop the leak and carry out several checks to get everything back to normal.
