The Zoom videoconferencing service appears to be experiencing a widespread outage, especially in the United States where millions of children and teachers were about to start the school year online.

Down Detector shows a spike in the number of Zoom users reporting problems connecting to the video conferencing service early in the day of August 24, mainly affecting users in the eastern US and UK. There are currently several thousand reports of failure or problems on Down Detector.
Zoom also acknowledged the outage on its service status page.
“We have received reports of users not being able to visit the Zoom website (zoom.us) and not being able to start or join meetings and webinars on Zoom. We are investigating and will provide updates as soon as we have them, ”says Zoom.
Resolution of problem
Update Tuesday at 3:50 p.m. PST. “We have identified the issue preventing users from authenticating to the Zoom website (zoom.us) and starting or joining Zoom meetings and webinars, and we are working on a solution to this problem,” reports l ‘business.

Update Tuesday at 7:10 p.m. PST. Issue Resolved: “We have resolved an issue that prevented some users from starting and joining Zoom meetings and webinars or managing certain aspects of their account on the Zoom website,” Zoom concludes.
Zoom was one of the first beneficiaries of the video conferencing boom, spurred by the coronavirus pandemic. The company has grown from 10 million daily meeting attendees in December to over 300 million today.
But the platform has experienced several technical and security problems this year that have disrupted its service.
It remains despite one of the main platforms, with Google Meet, used by schools for distance education. Zoom is also a key tool for many remote workers.
