Germany: cybersecurity agency examines Xiaomi smartphone

BERLIN (Reuters) – Germany’s federal cybersecurity agency BSI has carried out a technical review of a smartphone model made by China’s Xiaomi, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson told Reuters on Wednesday.

This person did not specify the nature of this examination.

The Lithuanian National Center for Computer Security claimed this month that Xiaomi’s Mi 10T 5G phone software has a censorship function disabled in the European Union, but that it can be activated remotely at any time, especially in the event that the words “Free Tibet” appear. , “Taiwan independence” or “democratic movement”.

Xiaomi has denied any censorship of the communications received or sent by its users.
