Pre-built desktops are still the best way to find value for your gaming dollars, even as we slowly move out of the graphics card price frenzy of the past few years. Walmart has a solid deal on a budget 1080p gaming rig right now. The online store is selling an HP Pavilion Gaming desktop with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 for $799. That’s $300 less than MSRP and a good price for a 3060 rig.
The main feature of this gaming desktop is that you can expect uncompromising 1080p gaming. This means that this setting will consistently meet or exceed 60fps on most AAA games at ultra graphics settings. In particularly resource-intensive games, there may be times when you have to dial it.
As for the processor, you get an Intel “Comet Lake” Core i5-10400F with six cores, twelve threads and a boost of up to 4.3GHz. It also has 8GB of RAM, which is enough for normal tasks. However, you may want to upgrade your RAM later.
If there’s one downside, it’s 256GB of onboard storage. It’s not much, but updating your desktop storage is usually easy. It might be a good idea to do some research to see if this desktop computer uses the standard ATX motherboard form factor and if it has convenient storage space for additional drives. If so, you can get a pretty nice setup for a reasonable price.
This desktop kit comes with a keyboard and mouse, but no monitor. If you need a new display, you can get a fast gaming monitor for just $149 at Walmart.
