Google Maps updated with new augmented reality features, accessibility and electric vehicle charging information –

Google Maps will be enhanced with three new features, starting with real-time visual search, which combines augmented reality, artificial intelligence and street view to make discovering unknown places easier. Next week, Live View will be activated in Paris, London, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Tokyo. The option will be available in the app for Android and iOS.

With Live View visual search, all you have to do is hold your smartphone while walking the streets of one of the major cities mentioned in Google Maps to display contextual information about what it sees through the camera: landmarks, street names , restaurants, ATMs. , hotels… To activate the function in Google Maps, simply click on the camera icon next to the microphone.

Google Maps Goes Electric

The second important novelty concerns charging stations for electric vehicles. Google Maps already allows you to find them and get information in real time. To make this use even easier, the service adds a “fast charge” filter that detects terminals with a minimum power of 50kW. Google Mas will also offer a search filter by outlet type to find only compatible stations.

The third new addition to Maps, Available Places is now available worldwide on Android and iOS. It defines places without stairs and wheelchair accessible.
