Ottawa: Court orders Google to cooperate with the Competition Office investigation.

The organization managed to obtain an order from the Federal Court of Canada on Friday. This requires Google to submit documents and written responses requested by the Competition Office as part of an investigation into the Internet giant’s online advertising activities.

In a statement issued Friday afternoon, the Office announced this new development. His research examines Google’s online advertising activity.

The investigation must determine, among other things, whether Google’s online behavior leads to higher prices, reduces choice, or hurts advertisers or consumers.

“The Office’s investigation is ongoing and no conclusion has been reached on the aforementioned irregularities for the time being,” the statement said.

In April 2016, the same Office concluded, after another similar investigation, that Google was using a ploy to exclude rivals and harm advertisers. Then, Google had withdrawn from the clauses present in the conditions of use of its interface at the request of the Office. The organization announced at the time that it would continue to monitor Google’s behavior.
