Gotham Knights: no 60fps on PS5 and Xbox Series, producer admits

As part of October’s major games, Gotham Knights will only be available on next-gen consoles, namely PS5 and Xbox Series. So far, gamers have been accustomed to enjoying the more powerful technical capabilities of these machines while enjoying 4K (native or dynamic) and 60fps at the same time. Well, there will be no such thing in Gotham Knights, which was simply deprived of 60 frames per second. The information came from Fleur Marty, the game’s producer, who reported on Discord that her game would freeze at 30fps on PS5 and Xbox Series, explaining that there would be no “Performance” mode. This lock is due to “sort of complex features in Gotham Knights” that compromise 4K and 60fps for consistent performance. These features are a highly detailed open world and local co-op.

I know many of you are interested in having a performance mode for Gotham Knights on consoles. Because our game has features such as a fully offline co-op experience in our highly detailed open world, it’s not as easy as lowering the resolution and getting a higher FPS. For this reason, our game does not have a performance/quality switch and will run at 30fps on consoles.

Very quickly, Internet users divided into two clans, those who swear by the inviolable 60fps and are outraged by this decision, arguing that other open worlds cope with this perfectly, and the excuse is flawed, and the rest understand this choice. I still don’t see the difference between 60 and 30fps. Either way, Gotham Knights is still expected on October 21st on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, and Xbox One.
