Health: ‘big conference’ will lead to decisions in early 2023, says Braun – Sciences et Avenir

Emmanuel Macron’s campaign promise that a “stakeholder conference” on health issues would begin in September and lead to decisions “early next year,” Health Minister François Braun said on Wednesday.

Originally scheduled for July, the “big conference” on access to care will finally last “from early September to December,” Mr Brown told Franceinfo, announcing decisions “for early next year.”

Praising the “new way of working”, he stressed that in addition to the state “which will play its part in this consultation”, three other categories of participants will be “systemically linked to the work”: guardians, elected officials, “who also have to will assume their responsibilities” and “patients we need to hear what they tell us” – to this end, the platform for collecting donations from citizens “will be released at the very beginning of September”.

The minister is currently increasing meetings with “trade unions, doctors, paramedics, (hospital) federations” to “build the main topics of this consultation.”

Asked about a possible restriction on the placement of liberal doctors in medical deserts, he assured that “there will be no taboos on this topic”, while confirming that “there is no miraculous solution.”

“We know there are solutions that work and others that don’t, they will all be on the table (and) I will make the necessary decisions,” he added.

All in agreement with a “national restructuring council” announced by the head of state, which will also start in September and become a “cap” into which the stakeholder conference “will be integrated,” Mr. Brown said.
