Cinema
“Skirmishers” by Mathieu Vadepier. From The Grand Illusion to Merry Christmas, cinema is often rightly inspired by the First World War, whose own dramaturgy remains an inexhaustible source of scripts. Tirailers by Mathieu Wadepier, currently in theaters, are in line. The film pays tribute to these young Africans who came by the thousands to fight and many to die on French soil. Putting the need for memory above controversy, the director perfectly balances the ingredients of great cinema. Violence when it is necessary to remember the horror; emotion and silence as he focuses on the intimate relationship between a father (Omar Sy, sober and touching) and his son. Until the score by Alexandre Desplat, which completes the work without false notes (photo by Marie-Clémence David).
