The Automobile Protection Association (APA) has evaluated 4 midsize sedans: the Honda Accord, the Hyundai Sonata, the Nissan Altima and the Toyota Camry Hybrid. These are all models from the year 2020.
In 2019, midsize sedans accounted for just 3.7% of new vehicles sold in Quebec and accounted for just one new car in new. Especially compact SUVs have taken over the sales of compact and midsize sedans.
Still, driving a well-designed sedan is more enjoyable than driving a compact SUV. Even so, the popularity of the latter continues to grow, in part due to the higher driving position, the ease of getting in and out of the vehicle, as well as the availability of all-wheel drive. Previously reserved for the Subaru Legacy among midsize sedans, the all-wheel drive offering is being extended in the segment in order to expand its potential customer base.
To take a look at this segment, our test drive includes four cars that received a redesign between 2018 and 2020. APA tested a 2020 Honda Accord 1.5 Touring, a 2020 Hyundai Sonata Ultimate, a 2020 Nissan Altima Platinum, and a 2020 Toyota Camry XLE. Hybrid.
