Honor 70 Review: Our Opinion –

The new flagship Honor has replaced the honest Honor 50 and is in the middle price range, just behind Honor Magic 4 Pro close to perfect. What is the latest copy of the former daughter of Huawei launched in 549€ ?

Design: gemstone

The Honor 70 is inspired by its predecessor, but takes it up a notch. really good design. The back side is covered with polished glass of the most beautiful effect. The two circles accommodate the sensor line and slightly increase the thickness. pretty thin frame. As a result, it reaches 7.91 mm. The device is also very light with a weight of 178 gr.

He is choosing 6.67″ large curved screen (58°). Like its competitors, it integrates its front camera into the kick. The top and bottom borders are relatively invisible, which gives us nice display surface.

The layout of the various physical controls is just as well thought out as the rest of the design. The same goes for the fingerprint scanner.

The audio part is entrusted to one loudspeaker located at the bottom of the smartphone. The upper mesh is for calls. The minijack port is intended for absent subscribers. The device charges via USBC.

Screen: the best experience

No wonder Honor chooses OLED panel for its highend terminal. In detail, this screen offers a definition FullHD+ (1080 x 2400 pixels) and adaptive and maximum refresh rates 120 Hz. Is it compatible HDR10+ and can display 1.07 billion colors. In short, it fulfills all the requirements in theory, but also in practice.

Honor 70 can switch between 4096 brightness levels. Therefore, it adapts perfectly to the surrounding light. By default, white leans a little towards blue. Fortunately, you can increase the temperature in the settings. Scrolling regulars, gamers and servers will clearly be enticed by the Honor 70.

Sound: monotonous

The audio equipment of the Honor 70 is disappointing, as there is only one speaker. Fortunately, this powerful enough to brighten up the room. You can also highlight the purity of the transmitted sound.

Honor 70 provides excellent compatibility with Bluetooth devices as it supports the standard 5.2. It supports SBC, AAC, LDAC, aptX and aptX HD codes.

Performance: liquid in all circumstances

Equipped with a technical configuration articulated around SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G Plus and 8 GB of RAMThe Honor 70 logically gets decent results in our usual tests. It doesn’t really have a problem running multiple tasks at the same time. Scrolling is smooth in all everyday applications.

AnTuTu, Geekbench, 3D Mark and PC Mark

As for games, Honor 70 is compatible with the latest titles from the Google catalog and launches them without blinking. From Call of Duty Mobile to Genshin Impact through Asphalt 9, the Chinese brand’s smartphone doesn’t fizzle out, everything passes!

Software: magic

We tested the Honor 70 with Android 12 and the Magic UI 6.1 overlay. There have been no noticeable changes since our testing of the Honor Magic 4 Pro, the interface is still a strong point, offering multiple customization options (fewer than some competitors) and wellorganized menus.

For lovers of multitasking, Honor 70 can display a quick access bar on the edge, from which you can open two application windows. Everything works smoothly.

Photos: menacing day and night

Honor 70 is the first smartphone launched with Sony IMX800 sensor. This definition 54 megapixels (f/1.9). It is accompanied by a sensor 50 megapixels which acts as an ultra wide angle (122° and f/2.2) and from macroand by 2megapixel (f/2.4) depthoffield sensor.

The main sensor is very well suited for accurate shooting of daytime as well as night scenes. We get detailed frames with good dynamics. However, color processing may favor cool colors in low light.

Ultra wide angle provides rendering with more accurate colors, but the fisheye effect should have been an option, not imposed. However, a good point for sharpness.

The Honor 70 does not have a telephoto lens, but the performance of the main sensor at 2x and 3x zoom is lower. very tempting.

It works equally well in portrait mode in all conditions, day and night. The depth sensor controls its object.

Honor 70 offers 32megapixel (f/2.4) selfportrait camera. The latter allows you to get highquality selfies, characterized by excellent sharpness, proper control of ambient light, and truetolife color reproduction.

Several video functions are available on this smartphone. You can shoot at the same time on the front module and rear module, as well as on the wideangle and ultrawide angle. Multivideo mode is also included. The “Solo Cut” function allows you to isolate part of the recording during the last.

Battery: the perfect combination of discharging/charging

Honor 70 includes a 4800 mAh unit, which gives it one and a half days of autonomy in mixed use and with adaptive refresh rate. The device is compatible with the maximum power of wired charging 66 W and so can refueling in 45 minutes. But there is no wireless charging.

Competition note

Google Pixel 6 (649€) is the benchmark in this price segment thanks to very high quality photo sensors, top performance and a thoughtful and efficient Google experience. Brand new Reno 8 from Oppo (599€) defends itself by offering an original design, honest technical equipment, quite comfortable autonomy and very fast charging, but its photo part is relegated to the background.

Aesthetically flawless, the Honor 70 delivers a smooth and seamless Google OS experience. The photo component is not on par with the Google Pixel 6, but the shots taken remain fully usable. Finally, the newborn from the Chinese manufacturer has comfortable autonomy and very practical charging technology. Too bad there is no wireless charging.

In short, this is a good new copy that Honor slips into our hands, the smartphone is well crafted and pleasant to handle with a balanced technical sheet.
