Every time you create a new Apple account, you will be prompted to create a secure password on your iPhone. But where are they stored and how do you access them? If you’re wondering how to edit iPhone passwords, you’ll be pleased to know that Apple has created an easy way to delete, edit, and manage any passwords you may have stored on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod using the company’s Keychain app. There are several quick ways to view, edit, delete, or create new passwords on your iOS devices, and this guide will walk you through all of them.
The first way is to view your passwords through the Settings app, which is available on both new and old iPhones.
If you are using iOS 13 or earlier:
1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
2. Open the “Passwords & Accounts” section on iOS13, on iOS14 it’s just labeled “Passwords”.
3. Then select Website and App Passwords.
4. iOS will then prompt you to use Touch, Face ID, or a passcode to verify your identity.
Once you access the list of passwords, you can either scroll through them or search for a specific website, username, or application using the search box at the top of this screen. To view the details of a saved password on your iPhone, simply click on the entry and its details will be revealed. Here you can edit the username, password, or website, or completely remove the entry from the list of saved passwords.
Change iPhone passwords
Apple uses its iCloud Keychain technology to sync and update your passwords and other secure information across all of your iOS and macOS devices: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac. If you want to turn on iCloud Keychain on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and haven’t done so yet, follow the instructions below:
1. Go to Settings again
2. Touch your account name and avatar banner.
3. Choose iCloud
4. Tap the Keychain Access option if you’re using iOS 13 or later. It’s worth noting that twofactor authentication is required to enable iCloud Keychain. If you haven’t already installed this app on your device, Apple will prompt you to do so.

Keychain Access is only available on iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, and Mac devices that support twofactor authentication running iOS 8.4.1 or later, or OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 on Mac.

Since the release of iOS 13, Apple has included a new feature that will alert you if you use the same passcode more than once. A small triangle with an exclamation point “!” inside. This will alert you to this and we encourage you to choose something new rather than using the same password over and over again.
In iOS 14, Apple has further improved password security and will now warn you if any of your passwords have been used in a data breach. If it detects any insecure logins, it will notify you to change them and fix the vulnerability.
