How to Check App Tracking on Apple iPhone

Apple offers a feature on the iPhone with which you can control which apps are tracking you. You can prevent all apps from tracking you or allow individual apps to track you.

This feature gives you more control over your privacy on your iPhone through the various apps you download from the Apple app store.

Apple has disabled app tracking by default, you can check the tracking settings on your iPhone in the privacy settings on your device. To do this, go to “Settings” > “Privacy” > “Tracking”, it can be seen in the screenshot below.

Because this feature is disabled by default, if you don’t want to be tracked on your device, you don’t need to make any changes to your settings. However, it’s worth checking it to make sure it’s disabled on your device.

If you want to allow some apps to track you, you need to turn on the “Allow apps to ask to be tracked” toggle as shown in the screenshot below.

allow tracking

When you open the app with this setting, you will be prompted to allow the app to track you, as you can see above, I have prevented Facebook and Instagram from tracking me.

As you block other apps from being tracked, they will be added to the list, and if you have a specific app that you don’t mind being tracked, you can allow it and it will show up in the list as shown below.

If you want to completely disable all apps from tracking you, you just need to disable “Allow apps to ask you to track you” as shown in the screenshot below.

Apple introduced these features last year when they released iOS 14.5, they are meant to make app tracking more transparent and let everyone know when an app is tracking them, as well as giving you the ability to stop that app from tracking you. This is just part of Apple’s ongoing updates to provide users with more information about their privacy.

Personally, I think this is a great feature as it gives iPhone and iPad users more control over which apps are tracked on their device, and it also alerts you when you’re being tracked by a particular app. Apple also added a number of other new privacy features when it released iOS 15. The current iOS software version at the time of this writing is iOS 15.3.
