There are several different ways to free up space on your Android phone or tablet, Android even comes with its own builtin tool to help you do just that. The tool is called Free Up Space.

How to use the Free Up Space Tool on Android?

The Free Up Space tool is designed to help you get extra space on your Android device by deleting what you may not need.

To use the tool, go to Settings and then Storage. You will then see a list of what is using your storage space, such as Apps, System, Videos, Photos, etc.

Above this list is the Free Up Space tool. Click on it and you will be taken to the Files app on your Android device.

In the Files app, you’ll see “Cleanup Suggestions” that will suggest which files you can easily delete from your device. For example, there may be a lot of memory used by files in the trash as well as junk files, after which you can choose which ones to remove from your device.

Free up space by clearing the app cache.

You can see how much memory an app is using in the Settings menu on your device. Go to Settings > Apps and you can see how much storage each app is using. You can clear some of this storage on your Android phone or tablet by clearing the cache.

You will then see two options in the menu “Clear Storage” and “Clear Cache”, select the “Clear Cache” option and this will give you extra space without deleting your files. If you select the “Clear storage” option, this will delete all the contents of this application.

Remove unused apps to get more storage space?

We all end up downloading apps that we don’t use on our smartphones. We may also have apps that we downloaded some time ago that we no longer use. Deleting these apps can free up quite a bit of space on your Android phone or tablet.

To see all your apps, select the Play Store app and then select Manage Apps & Devices. You will then see a list of apps and the amount of storage they are using. You can sort these apps by name, most used, least used, and more.

Select “Least Used” and you will get a list of apps that you don’t use as often as your favorites, then you can choose which ones you don’t need anymore and remove them from your Android smartphone or tablet.
