“I’m Groot!” Marvel Studios has released the first trailer for the Guardians of the Galaxy animated spin-off.

Move over, Baby Yoda.

It’s debatable which infantile alien creature is the most adorable in the pop culture universe: Baby Yoda or Baby Groot. But with the big cheers and applause heard at Marvel Studios’ animation panel last Friday at San Diego Comic-Con when they unveiled the new I Am Groot trailer, we’re betting on a brave little tree. Sorry Grog!

Guardians of the Galaxy animated spin-off is coming to Disney Plus. (will open in a new tab) August 10 and consists of five animated shorts starring the precocious offshoot of Papa Groot seen in Marvel films starting in 2014.

Each humorous segment will focus on Baby Groot’s various childhood misadventures across the galaxy as he is separated from the main Guardian team as he meets new friends and foes as he gets into dangerous situations.

Vin Diesel, who has used the three-word language of the Flora Colossus character since her appearance in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy, is back to share his vocal talents with the new sci-fi series, and Bradley Cooper will once again reprise his role as the voice of Baby Groot’s best friend, the Specialist. on Rocket Raccoon’s cybernetic weapons.

I Am Groot was created by Ryan Little, Script Coordinator and Writer for Disney+’s What If…? animated anthology, on which the series is also based. Kirsten Lepore is serving as the show’s director, with Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso and Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn serving as executive producers.

The Groot character was the original brainchild of Marvel’s Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, and Jack Kirby and was first revealed to fans in 1960s Tales to Astonish #13 as Groot, a monster from Planet X.

During last weekend’s panel, the creative team announced that after the first batch of five “I’m Groot” animated shorts arrive in August, the series will return with a second round of episodes, a date to be determined in the future.
