The Minister of the Armed Forces, Florence Parly, announced that in “just one year, cyber attacks have quadrupled“, during a speech on Thursday, March 4. These incidents now only affect”large companies or tech giants” but also “hospitals, individuals and local communities“, she added, citing the example of the Dax hospital.
Signature of an agreement
France’s cyber capacities must therefore be strengthened, warns the minister. “This is why the Minister of the Armed Forces has the ambition to strengthen his end-to-end cyber defense chain. As such, it announces the signing of an agreement with the Public Interest Group “Action contre la Cybermalveillance” (GIP Acyma).
This structure, supported by a public private partnership, is at the origin of the platform for reporting and helping victims, Cybermalveillance.gouv.fr. It brings together the National Information Systems Security Agency (Anssi), the Ministry of the Interior, Justice … civil society actors, operators and publishers.
Strengthen links with cyber players
This partnership is part of “fully in the second axis of the strategy presented by the President of the Republic which consists of strengthening the links and synergies between the actors of the sector to federate the ecosystem of cybersecurity“, explained Florence Parly. In practice, the Ministry of the Armed Forces will provide the GIP with an officer from the Defense Intelligence and Security Directorate (DRSD) full time.
