iOS 16: Dynamic Island coming soon to all iPhones

By next year, Apple is expected to roll out Dynamic Island (a dynamic notch feature exclusive to the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max) to all of its models. Good news for all iPhone owners.

According to renowned industry analyst Ross Young, Apple is expected to bring Dynamic Island to all of its devices as early as next year. In a tweet spotted by MacRumors on Sunday, Yang said he expects this tablet-shaped “dynamic island” to launch on all models at the same time as the iPhone 15. Currently only the high-end iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. models, not the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus.

A Feature Highly Appreciated by Fans

Dynamic Island garnered a lot of attention when Apple unveiled it at the Far Out event earlier this month. In case you missed it, this feature leaves a black space that houses the front camera and face ID sensors of some iPhone 14s (placed below the notch), which cleverly form an integral part of the screen. This space is changing and adapting, providing useful information.

App developers are already finding many interesting or fun uses for Dynamic Island: one of them is already offering a simple game idea based on Pong, the classic 1970s video game that practically started the gaming industry. A game called Hit The Island just appeared in the App Store.

The Cupertino-based company is used to releasing new features exclusive to its high-end models for its other smartphones over time. Such a move will make the line of phones more uniform.

Yang added that due to supply chain issues, Apple will delay bringing its ProMotion smooth scrolling technology to standard iPhones by at least a year. ProMotion offers a refresh rate of up to 120Hz (instead of 60Hz) for smoother scrolling and greater responsiveness. Apple first used ProMotion on the iPad Pro in 2017 and then added it to the iPhone 13 Pro in 2021.
