iPhone 13: I paid full price for a product that is still in beta

The iPhone 13 is out. But, if there is no doubt that it has better hardware than the previous version, the presence of many bugs prevents you from taking full advantage of it. In fact, I feel like I paid for an iPhone that’s less nice and I can do less with than the old one.

Within two hours of turning on the iPhone 13, I noticed several errors. Yes, a few hours were enough. So, the errors did not appear after a thorough examination of the device and its problems, I noticed during my working day.

Hasn’t anyone at Apple tried it?

First, the feature that allows me to unlock the iPhone using my Apple Watch while wearing a skin no longer works. I noticed that it had stopped working and after digging a bit I realized that it was not activated.

Is rare. All my other features and settings seem to have carried over during the migration. I went through the activation process only to hear that my iPhone was “unable to communicate with the Apple Watch.” Strange. Everything was set up.

Tried resetting the device and even unpaired the watch and fixed the connection, to no avail. Then a quick search on social media showed me that I was not alone. So it appears that an Apple product is having communication problems with another Apple product.

However, the connection worked fine with the old iPhone, even after updating to iOS 15. Has anyone at Apple tested it?

Lags, hitches, and quirks in the UI

Then there is CarPlay. It’s crashing into my house. A quick search on social media suggests that I am not alone in this case either. Many other beta testers who have paid full price for Apple’s new smartphone are reporting the same issue. The functionality worked fine with my old iPhone.

I also heard about an issue with Apple Music and an issue where widgets misbehave. These issues appear to have been fixed in an iOS 15 update that users need to download as soon as the device is turned on.

I also encountered a lot of lags, jerks, and oddities in the UI. The Camera app behaves strangely when switching between lenses and the entire iOS interface becomes slow at times.

And there is a strange bug where the camera’s field of view changes when the focus changes. This happens in both photo mode and video mode, but photo mode uses some blur to reduce it.

Cinematic mode has big problems

Then there is the cinematic mode. So there it is difficult. I realized that it was far from perfect when Apple introduced this product, and I read a lot of reviews that had excuses that it wasn’t perfect and it was okay. still far from perfect after many years).

And this is where the problem lies. Apple enjoys too much freedom from critics and customers.

The company has incorporated this ‘ship now, fix later, maybe’ culture, which results in the delivery of faulty products (likely due to an aggressive product upgrade cycle) and tolerance of “not perfect” features . Which doesn’t make sense.

I’ve seen the quality of iOS versions deteriorate over the years, and now I see the same thing happening with Apple hardware. And increasingly, I see critics shrugging off mistakes, and customers hoping for a solution.
