Katy Perry joins forces with Pokémon for 25 years of the license

The famous Pokémon license is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Derived in several different products such as, of course, video games, playing cards, figurines, films or even television series, the phenomenon is growing year after year and never seems to stop.

25 years is to be celebrated. Pokémon has not skimped on the means, and collaborates with the international star Katy Perry for this anniversary. The American has released a brand new single called “Electric”, and it features Pikachu and its pre-evolution Pichu. Katy Perry is not the only one to contribute to this event, and the 25th anniversary disc of Pokémon will bring together a multitude of music performed by other international artists such as rapper Post Malone or singer J. Balvin.

An unstoppable license

Pokémon is the number 1 license in the world: games have sold more than 350 million copies, Pokémon GO is in the top 3 of the most profitable mobile games of all time with more than 1.2 billion dollars in revenue, and collectors are snapping up first edition Charizard cards for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Detective Pikachu, a movie released in theaters in 2019, raked in $ 432 million in profits, an astronomical amount that propelled the film to the second highest grossing video game adaptation of all time (the first being Warcraft: The beginning).
