Franco-Moroccan Ahmed Eddarras, a former candidate in the French legislative elections in the 9ᵉ French Abroad constituency (which includes Morocco), will not be able to participate in the new partial elections to be held in April.
Taken over last November by the National Commission on Campaign Accounts and Political Finance, the Constitutional Council declared Ahmed Eddarraz, a candidate in the June 2022 elections, ineligible for the 9th constituency of French people living outside of France for three years. This decision is motivated, in particular, by the shortcomings noted in the candidate’s pre-election reports. This close friend of French President Emmanuel Macron is also accused of failing to file campaign returns and return books of donation receipts.

This de facto decision of the council prevents Ahmed Eddarraz from participating in the next elections scheduled for Sunday 2 April (1st round) and Sunday 16 April (second round). Karim Ben Sheikh (NUPES candidate) won the previous elections before they were overturned by the Constitutional Council, chaired by former Minister Laurent Fabius.
