Legal action against Wish: government issues warning to tech companies – planete business

Tech companies have been required to remove the e-commerce site from their listing.

French Economy and Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said in mid-December that he would take legal action against search engines that would not remove the e-commerce site Wish from the list in the coming days.

“I’ll give you a few more days, the benefit of the doubt. Then it’s simple, I bring the case to justice and they will be sentenced, ”he told the France 2 television channel.

Earlier this month, the government announced that the California platform would be withdrawn from search engines and app stores for violating consumer protection rules and failing to respond to requests from the Competition Directorate. Consumer and repression of fraud (DGCCRF in French).

Tech companies have until early this week to remove the e-commerce site from the list. According to La Tribune, the French search engine Qwant removed the online marketplace from its search results last week. Following Le Maire’s warning, Google’s Google Play app store and Apple’s app store also followed suit.

Wish is “seeking a legal remedy” against the DGCCRF.
