Lord of the Rings: Gollum is now delayed

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum has now been delayed. The upcoming adaptation was scheduled to launch on September 1 (Switch port coming later). Developer Daedalic Entertainment needs a few more months to polish Gollum’s adventure.

It may also have something to do with fans who have been vocal about the perception of Gollum as being substandard, especially after a recent gameplay trailer where the game looked very rough. Daedalic appears to have taken these concerns seriously. The studio did not give a new release date, saying only that it was postponing the game “for a few months”. If it improves the quality, then that’s good.

The full delay statement reads:

First of all, we would like to thank you all for your patience and support. Over the past few years, our team has been working hard to bring you a wonderful story in a breathtaking world filled with magic and wonder.
We are committed to meeting the expectations of our community and uncovering Gollum’s early history in a way that is in line with J. R. R. Tolkien’s vision.
That being said, to ensure the best possible experience, we have decided to delay the release of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum by a few months. We will let you know the exact time as soon as possible.
We are grateful to our passionate community and can’t wait to share this unique adventure with you soon!
