The 13-inch MacBook Air 2022 has yet to be released, but there are already rumors of a potential 15-inch MacBook Air. A number of reliable sources, including Mark Gurman of Bloomberg. (will open in a new tab)analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (will open in a new tab) and display analyst Ross Young (will open in a new tab) everyone was hinting at a possible upcoming Apple laptop.
The 15-inch MacBook Air is rumored to be larger than any MacBook Air ever released. The new laptop is expected to launch in the spring of 2023 and feature Apple’s M2 chip – and possibly even the rumored M2 Pro processor.

MacBook Air 15-inch release date and estimated price
According to Mark Gurman (via MacRumors (will open in a new tab)), the 15-inch MacBook Air is due out in spring 2023. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says the new 15-inch MacBook should arrive in the second quarter (or later) of 2023. Display analyst Ross Young also believes the new MacBook will arrive sometime in 2023.
None of the recent rumors hint at the price of the 15-inch MacBook Air. But given that it’s larger than the MacBook Air 2022, it should command a higher price. The MacBook Air 2022 is $1199, so we’re expecting a jump to $1399 or $1499. For reference, the 14-inch MacBook Pro starts at $1999 and the 16-inch MacBook Pro starts at $2499.
MacBook Air 15-inch design
The 15-inch MacBook Air is expected to be a larger version of the upcoming 13.6-inch MacBook Air. In particular, according to rumors, the size of the new laptop is 15.2 inches. As MacRumors notes, this will make it 0.2 inches smaller than the old 15.4-inch Macbook Pro. It should have thin bezels like the MacBook Air 2022.

Instead of a tapered design, the new laptop should have flat edges like the new 13-inch Air and a row of function keys. The 15-inch laptop is also expected to feature a 1080p webcam, improved speakers, and MagSafe charging. But we don’t expect an SD card slot or an HDMI port like the pros.
The 15-inch MacBook Air will likely feature a 500-nit Retina display, just like the 13-inch MacBook Air. We don’t expect a premium mini LED as it will most likely remain a MacBook Pro feature.

Mark Gurman’s report states that the 15-inch MacBook Air will feature the M2 chip that debuted in the 2022 13-inch MacBook Pro. Ming-Chi Kuo adds that Apple is working on a 15-inch MacBook with M2 and M2 Pro variants. This 15-inch laptop may be the MacBook Air.

The MacBook Air 2022 features an M2 chip with an 8-core CPU and up to 10-core GPU. We don’t have any information about the specifications of the M2 Pro.

Rumors of a 15-inch MacBook Air have just begun to leak. So there is not a ton of information to sift through. But given how impressed we were with the MacBook Air 2022 during our hands-on experience at WWDC 2022, we’re excited about the potential of the 15-inch laptop.
We’re not too surprised to learn that the 15-inch MacBook Air will feature the M2 chip, given how well the M1 processor lineup performs. Could there be a configuration with the rumored M2 Pro chip? We can’t say for sure, but it would be an interesting prospect. We’re also curious to know how many CPU and GPU cores this MacBook Air M2 has. It would be nice if it came standard with a 10-GPU core like the MacBook Pro 2022.
