Elon Musk’s decision to reduce content moderation on Twitter is a “big problem,” French President Emmanuel Macron said on Thursday, December 1, in an interview with the American television channel ABC.

Macron criticizes Musk

“Freedom of speech and democracy are based on respect and public order. You can demonstrate, you can freely express your opinion, you can write whatever you want, but there are obligations and restrictions,” Emmanuel said. Show Good Morning America.

According to the Financial Times, the European Commission has threatened to suspend Twitter if Elon Musk does not follow the moderation rules the platform is committed to.

Elon Musk, who has fired most of the social network’s moderators since he bought it for $44 billion, decided this week to put an end to the fight against misinformation about the Covid-19 pandemic.

It also reactivated former US President Donald Trump’s account and issued a “general amnesty” for other suspended accounts other than those that violated the law.
