Mr Smith said Baillie Gifford “keeps a low profile and has high standards”. The company’s participation in this $ 300 million funding in Blockchain.com represents “one of its first investments in a crypto company.”
“It is also the validation of a balanced and diversified retail / institutional business that has incredible growth potential over the next few years,” said Smith. He added that Baillie Gifford has a history of investing in companies at the forefront of innovation: they “have been early investors in some of the biggest tech-driven companies for the past 20 years,” including You’re here, Google, Amazon and AirBnb, among others.
