The vaccination center was installed in April 2021 at the Palais des Congrès de Mazamet facilities. But will it close its doors at the end of October?
The city had responded favorably to the request of the Director of the ARS (Regional Health Agency) to open a vaccination center accessible to all, 4 days a week. Installed materially by the City Council, the center was run by the Maison de santé de la Montagne Noire, with the support of doctors, health personnel and firefighters. The municipalities of the country of Mazametan, with municipal staffing and local associations, have contributed greatly to the smooth running of the center.
By the end of September, more than 36,000 injections had been performed. A total that demonstrates the importance of this center in the fight against Covid 19 in the Mazametan country.
The last city council authorized the mayor to sign the agreement negotiated with the Regional Health Agency and which sets, among other things, the conditions for reimbursement of the expenses incurred since the opening of the center. These costs are related to part of the operating costs borne by the main budget of the city of Mazamet.
Therefore, the ARS will provide the means to reimburse part of the costs. Mayor Olivier Fabre expressed his satisfaction with the operation of this center: “I would like to thank all those who have contributed to its proper operation and in particular all the volunteers and all the staff of the different municipalities of the Mazamétain country. But it is normal for the ARS to provide the means to reimburse part of the costs. “The pace of vaccinations has slowed considerably. But the center remains open at least until the end of October.
Then a new phase could begin. The vaccination center has proven its effectiveness. Even if nothing is official yet, you may be asked to continue your action and proceed with injecting the third dose of vaccine needed for people 65 years of age and older, six months after the second dose.
