The McLaren Solus GT was officially unveiled recently, the car started out as a Vision Gran Turismo car and has now evolved into a racing car.
Now we can find out more about the new McLaren Solus GT in a new video from Top Gear, let’s find out more details about this track supercar.
“The McLaren Solus GT is a realization of McLaren’s radical concept car, originally created for the world of virtual racing. Designed without any restraints from road or racing regulations, but using the full range of McLaren expertise to bring it to life, it embodies our pioneering spirit.”
Michael Leiters, CEO of McLaren Automotive
Strikingly true to its virtual inspiration, the striking exterior design is based on proven aerodynamic principles and McLaren’s “everything for a reason” design ethos, honed by complementary CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and wind tunnel aerodynamic research.
The list of distinctive exterior features is long, with the sliding canopy above the single center seat being one of the most striking. The wheels are enclosed in aerodynamic fairings and mounted on suspension arms. A large front splitter feeds air into the ground effect tunnels before it exits the car through a full diffuser. A motorsportinspired overcab air intake integrated into the hoop cover design brings cool air into the engine while also delivering an engaging induction sound. The racing car’s design also inspired the side pontoons that house the Solus GT’s radiators.
