Mercedes has announced a new partnership with Rivian for electric vans, both companies will set a new standard for electric vans.
MercedesBenz Vans, a fullrange supplier of electric private and commercial vans, and electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian announced today that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to launch a strategic partnership. The partnership will allow the companies to collaborate on the production of electric vans.
Subject to final binding agreements between the parties and obtaining appropriate regulatory approvals, the companies intend to set up a new manufacturing joint venture to invest in and operate a plant in Europe to produce large electric vans for both Mercedes, -Benz Vans and Rivian, launching in a few years. The goal is to build a completely new, electriconly manufacturing facility using the existing MercedesBenz site in Central and Eastern Europe.
Companies are looking at productionoptimized vehicle designs for efficient production on shared assembly lines. They will aim to produce two large vans, one based on VAN.EA (MB Vans Electric Architecture), the MercedesBenz Vans electric platform, and the other based on the secondgeneration Rivian Light Van (RLV) electric van. ) Platform.
