Meta Quest Pro Launches October 11th on Meta Connect – Here’s What We Know

The Meta Quest Pro VR headset may be announced on October 11, 2022 during the Meta Connect conference at 10:00 AM PT. The news comes to us from none other than Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who posted a picture of himself on Facebook with the caption “See you on Meta Connect October 11th.” (will open in a new tab).

It’s entirely possible that Meta Quest Pro and the rumored Project Cambria are one and the same, as the latter is currently rumored to launch in October. The little information we have suggests that Meta is working on a sequel to Oculus Quest 2 (now Meta Quest 2) that will cost more than the best VR headset. It will reportedly be equipped with advanced sensors built specifically for the Metaverse.

The headset is said to support exclusive mixed reality capabilities to justify the higher price tag. From what we know so far, it’s likely that Quest Pro isn’t the Meta Quest 3 that’s been rumored.

On a recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Zuckerberg touted the Quest Pro’s features, including eye and face tracking, which will supposedly sync to your digital avatar in real time. This could lead to more realistic social interaction in virtual reality, something that normal people absolutely need.

Zuckerberg didn’t go into further details, but the Quest Pro has already been confirmed to be a “high-end headset” with a price to match. While the figure has not been officially released, it is speculated that it could be worth up to $1,500. (will open in a new tab). If true, this will affect the headset’s appeal in the mainstream market – unlike the more affordable Quest 2 headset.

Prototypes of the headset also have outward-facing cameras, suggesting that it will be able to integrate your surroundings into the virtual environment. The design was also much less bulky than the VR headsets currently on the market. But it’s unclear if any of these designs will make it into the final model.

Meta Connect will be a virtual event streamed on Facebook Reality Labs. (will open in a new tab) page at 10:00 AM PDT October 11. It’s just over a month away, which means we’ll soon see what this new VR device is all about. Stay tuned for news as it develops.
