This week, Facebook announced its firstever drop in revenue, a decline in secondquarter earnings, and also predicted thirdquarter growth could fall even further. In order to increase its profits and revenue, Facebook, or rather Meta, also announced that it will increase the price of the Quest 2 virtual reality headset by $100 next month.
Facebook recently changed its name to Meta, and Zuckerberg has invested heavily in building his dream of the Metaverse, which will allow him to monetize virtual reality environments, games, and experiences. It’s more expensive now to enjoy the Metaverse with the $400 and $500 Meta Quest 2 BR headsets for the 128GB and 256GB versions, respectively. The meta explains more about price increases.
Price increase for Metaverse Quest 2
“The momentum of VR is undeniable. From gaming and productivity to fitness and more, virtual reality is becoming more and more popular as it positively impacts the way we work, play and connect with each other. People have spent over $1 billion on Meta Quest apps, helping developers fuel the business as they create the games and experiences that make VR great.”
“At the same time, the costs of manufacturing and shipping our products are rising. By adjusting the price of Quest 2, we can continue to increase our investment in innovative research and development of new products that will take the VR industry to the next level. Even with these price changes, the Meta Quest 2 continues to be the most affordable VR headset with a comparable feature set on the market. Each headset gets better after purchase. From hand tracking and Air Link improvements to Meta Horizon Home, we’re constantly adding new features to make VR more social, intuitive and immersive than ever before. We will continue to regularly release exciting new software updates to improve our products.”
“Now is the perfect time for us to redouble our efforts to move contemporary art forward. We will continue to work alongside the developers, trailblazers, and diehard fans who play and create for VR every day, and we can’t wait to continue sharing the work we’re doing at Reality Labs on our journey to the metaverse. . Stay tuned for updates on Tech at Meta and on this blog.”
