According to him, with the acquisition of Dow Jones, Bloomberg LP could become a leading player in the financial information market. However, the source clarifies that Michael Bloomberg has not yet spoken with Dow Jones owner Rupert Murdoch and has not yet asked the banks to evaluate the possibility of this acquisition.
Michael Bloomberg is also considering buying the American daily The Washington Post to increase his competition with another big player, the New York Times. Bloomberg LP earns $10 billion annually for its shareholders. At least 88% of the company’s shares are owned by Michael Bloomberg.
