Microsoft performance tracker is back with some changes

Microsoft is once again trying to give managers a tool to measure user performance with a new tool called “Acceptance Score” that replaces the controversial Performance Dashboard. This time, the company promises to guarantee “user-level privacy.”

The controversy led Microsoft to deny that the Productivity Score was a performance monitoring tool, but rather a way to “discover new ways of working while providing great collaboration and technology experiences for your employees.” »

User level privacy

Microsoft made changes to M365 usage analytics last year to pseudonymize user information by default. But global admins can revert to reports with more personal information.

Microsoft is now promising “user-level privacy” with Productivity Score’s replacement, Adoption Score. Microsoft specifies that “no one in a customer’s organization may use the Adoption Score to access data about how an individual user uses Microsoft 365 apps and services.”

Acceptance Score is rolling out today in the Microsoft 365 admin center. Global admins must approve its use so that other Office admins can see the time trend data it provides in the dashboard.

Microsoft says in a blog post that the Adoption Score Dashboard provides M365 administrators and IT managers with “a set of metrics and tools…to improve the day-to-day experience of their employees and help organizations get the most out of it.” their investment in Microsoft 365. The tool is expected to help administrators drive adoption after a company has invested in Microsoft professional software.

time trends

Adoption Score’s main current feature is Time Trends, which helps administrators understand “historical information collected across the organization.” It tries to measure “human experience” and “technical experience” and gives a score out of 700. The human experience score is from 500 and the technical experience score is from 200.

For human experience, the adoption score offers time trend metrics for the following categories: content collaboration, meetings, teamwork, mobility, and communication in Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Yammer, and Skype.

Technology capabilities include device analytics, network connectivity, and the health of Microsoft 365 Apps.

The organizational trend data available in the dashboard has also been increased from 28 days to 180 days. Administrators will be able to see, for example, the percentage of responses to new emails with @mentions and how it has changed over the past 30, 90, or 180 days.

Microsoft is planning to add a new feature to Adoption Score. It doesn’t say what it is, but it aims to ensure that administrators and customers can “get the most out of Microsoft 365 while maintaining our commitment to user privacy.”

The implementation assessment is only available to IT Pros with the Global Administrator role, Exchange, SharePoint, Skype for Business, and Teams administrators.
