Microsoft Teams updates its app store

Microsoft has revamped its Teams app store to make it easier to find and install apps to enhance your chats and meetings.

The homepage has been redesigned and features better categories of selected apps.

This new application store will be deployed over the next month, as indicated by the American giant in a blog post published earlier this week.

Smart recommendations

For Microsoft, this is a major problem. Le géant américain a eu du mal à render the boutique Microsoft Store for Windows 10 and 11 attrayante, mais il poursuit are projet de refonte visuelle de la boutique d’applications du client de bureau Teams in order to facilitate the découverte et l’installation de nouvelles Applications.

The first change is a new carousel at the top of the page, displaying applications that may be of interest to users. There are also new collections of apps selected by their publishers, which Microsoft promises to update every month.

Microsoft promises “smart recommendations” for new apps based on what a Teams user’s friends and colleagues use. This should make it easier for users to connect with their teammates and find what is popular in your company or school. There will also be a collection of the most popular applications used in Teams.

More than 1000 applications available

Of course, the number of Microsoft Teams applications does not rival the number of applications available for iOS and Android. Microsoft still claims to have “more than 1,000” applications available on its collaborative work platform. Developers can distribute applications through the Teams customer store, which is also published on Microsoft AppSource, the marketplace for all Microsoft 365 applications.

To help Teams users find the right apps, Microsoft has created more app categories on the left side of the window. These divide the apps into segments: education, developer tools, meetings and scheduling, news and weather, etc. These categories should be able to support all kinds of apps, from business line apps to Power Apps designed for a specific business. The refined segments are also broken down by function and industry.

There is no mention of a way to leave comments in the app lists. However, Microsoft says it wants to investigate the problem. The American giant thus specifies that it wants to “actively redefine the installation dialog” and will shortly add new surfaces to the store.
