“Four million people are waiting for the vaccine,” Health Minister Olivier Veran said on Tuesday, recalling the importance of prioritization, even if “some large urban vaccination centers have vacancies available.”

“If we set a target of 80% of the age group that needs to be vaccinated for protection, there will still be 4.3 million French people vaccinated who have not yet been vaccinated,” Olivier Veran said after a visit to ARS. Ile-de-France Crisis Unit in Saint-Denis, recalling its desire to vaccinate, “giving priority to the age group.”

Answering a question about the possibilities of making an appointment at the vaccination center installed at the Stade de France, the minister said that he “noticed that there are a number of large centers, especially large urban vaccination centers, which have vacant vacancies”. in particular in Seine-Saint-Denis or in Val d’Oise.

But for him, this situation in no way reflects the situation in other departments, “perhaps less metropolitan and in which there are still elderly people awaiting vaccination.” Rather, these opportunities “reflect an increase in the supply of vaccines, in particular messenger RNA vaccines in Ile-de-France, and 20% more locations that could be opened than expected.”

“This is not because the municipality has vaccinated 70% or 80% of its elderly people, it should start offering vaccinations to people who are much less at risk of developing serious forms,” he added, inviting these municipalities to attract the right people. from the surroundings.
