Netflix to stream SpaceX’s all-civilian Inspiration4 launch live with celebrity-filled countdown event

Are you counting down to SpaceX’s Inspiration4 launch this week? Netflix certainly is, and you can join “Queer Eye” Karamo, award-winning journalist Soledad O’Brien, and the astronauts to celebrate the launch at a live streaming event.

On Wednesday night (September 15), you can join Netflix’s virtual party of celebrity guests and astronauts to bid farewell to the Inspiration4 team live prior to their launch into orbit. The live stream is provided by Netflix, which is streaming a new documentary series “Countdown: Inspiration4 Mission to Space,” which follows the Inspiration4 team in real time as they prepare to launch into space.

Inspiration4 is scheduled to lift off no earlier than 8:02 p.m. EDT (0022 GMT Thursday, September 16) from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Inspiration4 will take four civilians into orbit, who will also appear on Wednesday’s livestream ahead of their space trip: Inspiration4 commander Jared Isaacman, a tech billionaire who chartered the flight aboard a SpaceX Crew Dragon vehicle; the pilot Sian Proctor, Afrofuturism artist, geoscientist and science communicator; Medical Officer Hayley Arceneaux, St. Jude Physician Assistant and childhood cancer survivor; and Mission Specialist Chris Sembroski, data engineer and Air Force veteran.

The Netflix livestream special with Brown and O’Brien will also include former NASA astronauts Leland Melvin, Cady Coleman and Ron Garan. The live event will also feature Time Editor-in-Chief Jeffrey Kluger, who will report live from the Kennedy Space Center.
