Since its launch on September 28, New World has made headlines according to its server issues. To once again avoid the excessive flow of players, Amazon Game Studios has decided to make a radical decision, to say the least.
New World victim of his enormous success
Since last thursday Amazon Game Studios welcomes the unexpected success of New World. However, developers are now forced to manage a new crisis that affects the gaming experience of many users. Available for PC from September 28, the studio’s first MMO phenomenon is experiencing unexpected server issues.
After many delays and betas, New World has known many bugs and server issues since its launch. With over 700,000 players simultaneously connected on the game’s launch day (the biggest Steam release of 2021), Amazon developers were overwhelmed and their servers were unable to keep up with the nearly million users trying to ” access the island of Aeternum.
A radical decision to relieve the servants of the New World
To deal with this problem, the developers have redoubled their wits for a week. Server expansion, announcement of a function that will allow you to transfer your character from one server to another, despite these first solutions to the problem of congestion in virtual worlds, nothing so far has allowed to calm the discontent of the players forced to pass endless hours in a row.
However, the study has made a radical decision. As of today, New World simply locks players from creating new characters on servers that are already full. In a tweet, the developers specify “work hard to increase the number of servers”, but that this workaround is a must to allow as many people as possible to enjoy the New World adventure:
Following the incredible demand we have seen for New World, we have been working hard to increase the number of servers and increase the capacity of the servers already available. We are also adding a system that prevents new players from creating new characters on servers that are already full.
When a server is full, it will be grayed out with the message “Character creation temporarily disabled on this server to avoid overcrowding.” This will not affect characters already created on the server and you will be able to log in as usual.
So far we have spent 28 worlds in full state, but keep an eye out for our Server status page since the list of worlds can change from hour to hour.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to provide you with the most optimal gaming experience. Thank you all for your support and we will see you soon at Aeternum!
