Nissan postpones launch of Ariya SUV due to chip shortage

TOKYO (Reuters) – The launch of Nissan Motor’s new Ariya electric SUV will be delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic and the global chip shortage, an official for the Japanese automaker said on Friday.

Last year, Nissan, a Renault partner, said it planned to start marketing the Ariya in Japan in mid-2021. But the launch will finally take place “this winter,” Executive Vice President Asako Hoshino told reporters.
