NixieX Nixie tube clock and speaker

This month, a unique watch called NixieX was launched on Kickstarter, designed by a team of engineers from Vancouver, Canada. The NixieX Nixie tube clock and speaker system has a number of functions including sleep, alarm, time and light, as well as a Bluetooth speaker that we can connect to a wide range of different devices that play audio or music at leisure. The Nixie clock speaker features a vintage volume meter and offers a variety of lighting modes that can be selected by pressing the control switch on the front panel.

Specially priced upfront contributions of approximately £349 to £287 (depending on current exchange rates) are currently available for the unique project, offering a significant discount of approximately 30% off the suggested retail price while crowdfunded on Kickstarter.

“This is NixieX, an authentic IN12 tube clock that tells the time in a gorgeous retrofuturistic steampunk style. It emits sound from a builtin speaker with a vintage volume meter to indicate sound level. It will be a oneofakind brilliant gadget that will make you feel connected to technology for years to come.”

“None of today’s digital displays can compete with HID lamps in terms of aesthetics and elegance. Nostalgic love for the style of this outdated technology led us to the idea of making a tube device. This is a modern interpretation of outdated technology. The clock, controlled by the main board, receives the time signals from the system and displays the time using four gas discharge lamps. There is a tiny light bulb in the center that separates the minutes and hours.”

Assuming the NixieX crowdfunding campaign successfully reaches the required donation target and the project is progressing smoothly, worldwide delivery is expected to take place sometime in April 2023. To learn more about the NixieX Nixie tube clock project, watch the promotional video below.

“There are only a limited number of working HID lamps in the world after their production was stopped in the early 90s. NixieX uses genuine IN12 discharge lamps that were purchased as New Old Stock (NOS). We were thrilled when we found the items, by which time they had been gathering dust in a warehouse for decades. We decided to bring them to life.”
