North Korea Develops Improved Translator Using Artificial Intelligence | YONHAP PRESS AGENCY

SEOUL, Oct. 3 (Yonhap) – North Korea has developed an artificial intelligence (AI) -based translation program with greater speed and accuracy, DPRK Today reported Sunday.

The propaganda website posted an account presenting the results of research by the Kim Il-sung University artificial intelligence institute on the creation and introduction of Ryongma, a translation service system based on artificial intelligence technology.

Ryongma is designed to handle seven different languages; English, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, German, French and Spanish; with its translation accuracy, in particular, of the first three languages ​​”almost at the expert level,” according to DPRK Today.

He said the translation speed has also been tripled to increase convenience.

In addition, the research institute improved its speech recognition program, dubbed “Ryongnamsan”, designed to process the North Korean language, expanding the applicable fields of social science to natural science sectors.

Pyongyang has reportedly stepped up its efforts to enhance its capabilities in cutting-edge technologies, including artificial intelligence, virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR). He adopted such programs for teaching in elementary schools and others.
