Ontario reported 741 new COVID-19 cases and three additional deaths on Sunday.
The balance presented on Sunday represents a slight increase compared to the previous day. This is the fourth day in a row that the number of new cases has exceeded 700.
According to Health Minister Christine Elliot, 410 new cases were not adequately vaccinated or whose vaccination status is unknown.
It reported that 107 people were hospitalized and 135 more in intensive care. Hospitals do not report data during the weekend.
Canada was due to receive the first delivery of vaccines for children ages 5 to 11 on Sunday. Health Canada authorized the use of the vaccine developed by Pfizer-BioNtech on Friday.
Several regional agencies say they want to start the vaccination campaign among children starting next week, but are still waiting for details before allowing an appointment.
The data shows that nearly 89% of Ontario residents age 12 and older had received at least one dose of the vaccine and nearly 86% were adequately inoculated.
