Available since last year, the new People Can Fly license gave us a sense of potential with an interesting story and nerve-wracking gameplay. Despite these two positives, the title lacked a certain sophistication, especially in the technical part. But a few patches have been released since then, and especially the Worldslayer DLC we’re talking about today. This is an opportunity for us to return to this inhospitable planet and tell you about this new content, including a minimum of spoilers.
Of course, we won’t be talking about People Can Fly’s work again, but for those who missed their news, they have notably developed the Gears of War spin-off Judgment, or Bulletstorm, and are currently in full production. games. We also take this opportunity to inform you that we are not going back to various game mechanics of the software, so feel free to read our base game test again as well as our opinion. However, watch out for any spoilers that may have slipped through.
Unstable Threat
Before you start the story action, know that Worldslayer is not a standalone game, but a standalone DLC. Understand by this that the base game (Outriders) is needed to make it work. Then you have two options: either you have the game and you just need to purchase this Worldslayer DLC, or you can directly get a bundle that includes both: the software and the DLC. Now that everything is clear, let’s move on “briefly” to the context.
Recall that, having gone to the planet Enoch in search of a new home, the surviving inhabitants of the Earth found a world engulfed in conflict, as well as the “Anomaly”, a phenomenon that causes high-intensity storms. In addition, this anomaly also changed people, giving them great abilities. The Worldslayer adventure begins at the end of the main game. Let’s say without further spoilers that, despite your best efforts, the threat is getting more and more volatile… The goal, of course, is to put an end to all of this, as well as to the actions of the most powerful Changed of this generation, Ereshkigal.
If there are still issues with lip-sync and overall staging in this new part of the story, Worldslayer splits its scripting axis into two dots. Even if we follow the first part, we would like some elements to be more developed and consistent, in particular to make the antagonist much more charismatic, memorable and menacing. The second part is already more interesting with its clarifications on the Anomaly, a way to enrich the lore a little more.

Changes & Improvements, RPG Palette, What’s New, Endgame
As for the overall gameplay, in addition to the elements and rebalancing introduced by New Horizon (major patch), the developers have bet on the continuity of this nervous, fluid and tactical approach from the main Outriders game. Confrontations and gunfights are always so enjoyable. Moreover, if the adventures of this DLC are more suitable for multiplayer, remember that the software can be played up to three online, solo confrontations are more difficult, but not insurmountable if you master your subject well (classes, weapons, abilities, etc. . .
The core games are unfortunately without the new class, so don’t really evolve, at least technically. In fact, in addition to new weapons, legendary gear, and other so-called “Apocalypse” objects welcoming the third mod slot, the evolution comes more through a revision/improvement of the RPG palette.

This new buff results in two additions to the skill tree system. Firstly, the “Pax” feature, which for points received in the campaign, opens two branches of the so-called passive skills. Whereas, for its part, the Ascension system more or less repeats what we’ve already seen in the “Brutasse Challenges” feature in Borderlands, or even in Diablo via Paragons. In particular, for certain points, you can increase a number of statistics, such as critical hits, PV, weapon damage, force damage or even cooldown reduction, etc.
Needless to say, if you enjoy customizing your hero like we do, you will love this part a lot. Moreover, just like the initial skill tree, the points spent in these two additional systems can be reallocated at any time to be re-implemented elsewhere. Thus, the accumulation of points will depend on the degree of your patience in the repetitive aspect of the case in order to try to collect your ideal things (including equipment): several hours, tens of hours, even a three-digit duration, as announced by the developers. .

By the way, if you start directly with this Worldslayer expansion, against which we strongly advise against for reasons of spoilers and ignorance of the universe, know that your character has a boost that brings him immediately to level 30, which is not too against tougher opponents on your path.
These new enemies, available during new missions, get access to the Apocalyptic levels mode, a general name change and starting difficulty, now going up to 40 levels. But above all, we defeat these enemies in different environments. It is clear that these new places are very successful and bring some fame. Faced with them, we feel that the Outriders have acquired an individuality, no more, no less.
Let’s end by talking about the Endgame available after this World Killer Campaign, access to Tarja Gratar’s trial version. In other words, this is a dungeon where rooms with monsters and bosses connect, choosing a route, and so on until the final confrontation. If you go alone, even if it is not completely insurmountable, you will face some very difficult difficulties, so we strongly recommend that you go with others. Of course, the goal of this endgame remains to get increasingly rare and available loot in these apocalyptic levels. However, beware of indigestion if you are allergic to the farm trend.

More exotic and successful palette
Let’s now move on to the technical/graphical part, even if you already briefly touched on it earlier. Worldslayer is blooming with new contrasts, we think of those icy bluish hues, those warm tones while crossing canyons. Without going into too much detail so as not to spoil your discovery, these new biomes completely recreate Enoch from his more classic tones visited during the main adventure.
Tested on Xbox Series X
We can tell you that at the moment of balance this expansion brings its fair share of beautiful new features as well as a certain bounty of content as well as a good introduction for newbies looking to try out the base game. Indeed, this DLC allows Outriders (2021) to be even better than when it was originally released with its initial flaws. If there are still concerns about the staging, that the gameplay, always so enjoyable, will remain the way it is, and that the notion of farming/repeat will be up to everyone, regulars will be thrilled with this new content.
